WATER RISK MANAGEMENT AND RENEWABLE ENERGIES

Athens, Greece

16-17 May 2005

Coordinated by the National Hellenic Research Foundation, it will try to propose the most appropriate research priorities within the domains of water risk management and renewable energies. These two domains will be treated by different expert panels working in parallel.

The two days workshop will concentrate on the following aspects:

1. Overview the state of the art and highlighting of best practices in the EU Member States and in the Mediterranean Partner Countries.

2. Identification of key topics in every sector (i.e. "Water" and "Energy"), of mutual EU and Med interest and with important impact to the local economies.

3. Proposals for the most appropriate tools for the implementation of the activities (common research activities, networking and coordination activities, activities for the improvement of Human potential, etc.).

Presentations in plenary session will set the context (i.e. the Euro-Med cooperation in S&T, the MED7 project and the expected outcome), followed by a presentation of a European Commission's official on the perspectives for FP7.

Then the experts will form two separate groups and will work in depth on the topics mentioned above. Every group will prepare a separate "group report". A Chairperson and a Rapporteur will be identified for every group.

The "group reports" will be presented and discussed in plenary in order to add missing elements, to merge some parts if necessary and to propose a common introduction.
